Jesse Levine died in November

A memorial concert for Jesse Levine, professor of viola and chamber music at Yale University, will take place on Sunday February 22, 4 PM, in Battell Chapel on the Yale Campus in New Haven. The esteemed violist, teacher and conductor died at home in November, 2008, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Members of the Yale faculty, including Syoko Aki, Joan Panetti, Frank Morelli and Wei-Yi Yang, will perform, as well as the Yale cello ensemble. In what will surely be a moving experience, students of the current studio of violists will perform the first movement of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, followed by a special arrangement of Schubert's "An die Musik" played by a viola choir of Professor Levine's former students. There will also be spoken tributes and remembrances.

The concert is free and open to the public.
